A Great place for a break with Pets

Roobarb’s Retreat welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs that can remain downstairs in the living area.

Dogs are allowed on the six mile stretch of sand all year but there are seasonal restrictions along the sea front in Filey itself.

They must be kept on the lead in the village but can be let off the lead in the meadows when the tide is in and there is no beach access.  The meadows are just behind the cottage and there are sometimes swans and other water birds swimming on the two fishing lakes so keep an eye on your dogs!  I often see Barn Owls hunting around the meadows at dusk. Roe deer have been seen on early morning walks and are a wonderful sight in the snow! There is another delightful walk down to the beach past another lake teaming with wildlife.

You can walk through the Wild Flower Meadow to the road which goes down to Humanby Gap and then join the cliff path to Reighton for a longer walk.  If the tide is out you can then walk back along the beach to really exhaust the four legged ones.  The walk to Filey along the beach is very pleasant and from September to March, dogs are allowed on the front beach at Filey.  From Filey you can walk to The Brigg and along the cliffs towards Scarborough with access via the Country Park.

The John Paul Jones Pub allows dogs, which means you don’t need to leave them behind when you go out.
